Marriahs Secret

Marriah grins as she lays on top of her covers. She couldn’t get this guy out of her head. There was a problem though. Well a few to be honest. He was a close friend of the family, and his wife had just died. Well, not just. It was about 6 months ago.. How long did it take to get over that? She shakes her head, rolling onto her side to pick up her bleeping phone. It was him! Sitting up quick, she slides the phone unlocked and giggles at the message. Throwing herself back on the bed with an smile, her face falls slightly. He was coming over, and she had nothing to wear! And what would happen if her parents returned from Cornwall! Holding her head in her hands, she sighed. “Follow your heart, Marr.” She murmured as she dropped her hands, jumped up and was at her walk in closet, flinging the doors open in less than a heartbeat. “Casual? Dressed up?” She wrinkled her nose as she held up a dress, throwing up onto the floor. “Jeans and a sexy top. Not too sexy though.” Marriah grinned,, getting changed and heading downstairs, texting back to the mystery man as she went, the grin not leaving her face.

She entered the kitchen, her head down, concentrating on her hone. As the message sent, she heard a beep, and her head snapped up as she spun round on the spot. Marriahs face it up and she pretty much threw herself onto the man stood there. “So much for playing it tool, Marr.” She scolded herself, mentally, as she kissed the man as he caught her “Hey sugar.” The cool calm voice of Kana filled the room as he tried to hold back a laugh before he kissed her back, wrapping his arms round her. “You know this might get us into trouble, Kana.” Marr started as  Kana sighed, lowering his head slightly “Maybe so. But you are Daddy's little princess. He wont hurt you.” He grinned, kissing her again “But he might hurt you?” Marr whispered. A quick shake of his head reassured her, even though inside Kana knew Creven  wouldn’t be happy.  With a swift move, Kana set Marriah down n the island in the middle of the kitchen. He had watched her grow up from being born, which he was at, to going through heartbreaks during school. Boys. That’s was who she dated. Boys who wanted one thing and when they didn’t get it, they would hurt her. Well they would try to. Marr could stick up for herself, he had seen that on more than one occasion. Marriah was part Kitsune, so she could use small pain illusions. And use them she did, like a professional. Kana was grinning as he thought of the last guy. Billy. He would forever be afraid of the dark and trees. Marriah tilted her head as she watched Kanas face “What is going through your head, sweetie?” she whispered. Kana laughed, shaking his head as she asked  “Thinking of something funny.” With a raised eyebrow, Marriah tossed her long brown curls over her shoulder. As she had grown older, her pink and violet hair had changed colour, settling on deep brown, that shone with hints of red in certain lights. The smile never left Marriahs face when she was with Kana. She sighed “We have to tell them. They will be home soon.” She murmured, almost under her breath. Kana froze “I know, I know.” He reassured her, kissing her “We will. Soon. I promise. I just want you to myself as long as we can get before they all find out.” Marriah nodded a few times, understanding <And before my dad literally kills you> she joked with a smile, though the both knew it was no joking matter.
Handing her a cup, Kana kissed her forehead Don’t worry about it. I can handle your dad. Its not like you are a kid anymore, Marriah. You are 25 years old. You have a job on Olympus. Ok so they pay you in Drachmas, but that’s dealt with easily enough…” Marriahs head shakes wildly, almost hitting him with the ends “Its not that I'm worried about.” She starts, lowering her voice as she watches him closely. “I love you.” She states “I love you. And I'm scared that if I admit how I feel to my dad, your best friend of all people, that he might do to me what he did to Co…” covering her hands, she bursts into tears. Kana sets his cup down and wraps his arms back round her to comfort her, kissing the top of her head and making soothing noises with a frown. He knew she didn’t talk about Coran since he was killed. He knew how much it hurt her to even think of it. He was her best friend, not just her brother and she lost him. Neither of them new the full story, but they had their suspicions on who had done it. SETH. They had talked about it on Olympus once. Never again, after Apollo warned them the outcome of people who knew SETH existed without being involved themselves. “He wont, Marr. I wont let him. I will take you away of it even crosses his mind. And trust me, I will see it.” Kana whispered before looking at the time with an annoyed grunt. Dropping his arms from round her, he runs his hands through his hair “I have to go. I need to pick the kids up from the station. They are home for the holidays.” Marriah let out a small sigh and nodded “See you Saturday?” she asked, hopefully. He nodded, flashing his charming smile at her “That you will.” He winked. Marriah had a Saturday job in the local human coffee house twenty minutes away. That’s where she saw Kana really for the first time. He was watching her, with a grin. She blushed as she saw him and ducked out the back, red with embarrassment. She was dancing to the music blasting through the speakers, thinking she was alone. As she looked round, he was there, leaned back on the chair, head tilted, and grinning. She almost died on the spot. They walked, hand in hand, from the kitchen to the front door. Marriah dropped her hand from his and draped her arms over his shoulders and kissed him deeply. Kana returned the kiss for a moment, then pulled back “Marr. Don’t let me get carried away.” He whispered cupping her face in his hands as he brushed his lips against hers, swiftly took on his fox form and darted out the front door.  Marriah watched him leave with a sigh. It was only Tuesday. She had to get to Saturday.  Closing the door, she headed back to her room, a small skip in her step and a giggle echoing throughout the castle
