Jem and Hannah - A Surprise For All.

<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon wanders aimlessly round down the street, mingling in with the crowd. She wipes the corner of her mouth then grins as she sees the remainder of her last meal on the back of her hand. She really did need to be more careful. Anyone would think she had gone off the deep end, but no. She hadn’t. She was just embracing her vampire side, something she hadn’t done a lot of lately, what with the changes in the family. Sighing heavily, she sits down on a bench, just staring at the people as they walk past, her nose turned up "Disgusting humans." she muttered under her breath, too low a frequency for any of them to hear, even though they were just inches away.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker walks cautiously down the road, her eyes wide. She'd only recently run away from home. Home. The thought left a horrid taste in her mouth. Home was where one was meant to feel love, something she had constantly been denied. It was only now that the young child had decided to flee, only after hearing her father reveal the truth to an unidentified listener. Hannah hums a soft tune as she walks. She wasn't sure where exactly she'd heard it, but it always helped her feel comfort when she needed it the most. She tucks a small section of her blonde hair behind her ear as she makes her way to a quieter area of the street; one that was tucked back a little. It was what some would call a side-street. She sinks to the ground against the side of a building and draws her knees to her chest, turning her head just enough to watch the people passing by the opening of the side street.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon leans back against the bench, humming a tune to herself, scanning the crowd with a confused look on her face. The tune had an echo it seemed. Quickly glancing round, she shook her head. It couldnt be... She couldnt see anyone she recognised, and it was a tune she knew from her only memory as a human. Standing slowly to get a better view of the people around her, her eyes land on a small figure, in the direction the sound was coming from. Jem slips through the crowd, pushing people out of her way. She couldnt loose sight of the small person. Waiting, she watches with a small gasp as the /girl/ leans against a building. Standing still, all Jem can do is watched, tilting her head slightly, unsure if she should approach her. But she needed to know where this girl knew the tune from. With a small inhale, she almost gagged "Human." she murmured.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker gasps softly as someone stops at the street's opening. Hannah only hoped she was friendly. As if it would make the woman disappear, the girl closes then opens her eyes. It worked for getting rid of the haunting memories. But when she opened her eyes this time, the woman was still there. She stands up and bolts towards the opposite end of the street, her heart racing. Hannah wasn't accustomed to being watched. As she runs, she debates humming her song once more. Would it slow down the thoughts racing through her mind? Would it cease the fear in her heart? The child stops and crouches down behind a stack of crates, her breathing heavy and strained. I lost her... the child thinks to herself.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon raises an eyebrow as the girl darts off. With a chuckle, Jem slowly walks after her "Why do they always run?" she questioned, with a small shake of her head. No matter, Jem wasnt going to hurt the child. She needed answers, answers that no one else was willing to give her about her old life, her human life. Her steps turn into a slight skip as she follows the girl "Come out, Come out, wherever you are." she calls out in a sing song voice "I just want to talk. Please dont run away." she murmurs, glancing round "Little girl? Please." she sinks to the floor, heaviness in her heart. All she wanted to do was find out about her past, and now even a little girl was running, the little girl who might have been able to help her. Jem buries her face, her hair falling over then, and bursts into tears.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker tilts her head at the sound of crying. Never had she heard anybody cry before: except for herself. She stands from behind the crates and makes her way towards the sound, where she found the woman who she'd seen at the opening to the street. The small child couldn't help but be curious. Why was a grown woman crying? She kneels down beside the woman, smiling softly as she moves some of her hair from her eyes. It was a gesture the child had only read about in books, a gesture she'd only hoped would be done for her one day, a day when somebody actually cared about  her. "Are..are you okay?" Hannah sighs softly before placing her hands in her lap. She sucks in her breath before humming softly once more, hoping the woman wouldn't notice how afraid she truly was.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon jumps almost out of her skin as she feels little hands touch her. Snapping her head up, she breathes out slowly, Glancing up at the smal child, she just shakes her head, wiping her eyes ”Im sorry. So sorry. I didnt want you to run away." she starts, not knowing how she was going to be able to ask such a young girl. With a hum, she smiles slightly, reaching up to touch the girls hair lightly "I just...heard that little tune you were humming and ..." she stops, tilting her head "You ... look so familiar." she whispers, confusion in her voice. Running her hands through her hair, Jem tries to rack her brains as to where she had seen this girl before, but she couldnt, yet everything about this girl was familiar. "Im sorry. I didnt mean to scare you or anything." she laughs slightly. Usually thats all she wanted to do to people.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker gasps softly at the woman's touch. It sent a chill up her spine. Never had anyone touched her so kindly, so gently, and been genuine about it. "It's...it's not your fault. My...father...he has caused me to fear others." She bites her lip. The song she was humming had drawn this woman? Why? Hannah didn't even know where she'd learned it from. It had just been one that she somehow knew. She looks straight at the building across from her, staring almost blankly now, deep in thought. She'd never seen this woman before in her life...how could she look familiar to her? Perhaps the woman knew her father and had met her when she was a very little girl. It was the only thing that seemed remotely plausible. "I look...familiar?"
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon tilts her head at the girls words, her mouth forming an O of shock "Did... did he hit you?" she asked, wondering how a parent could every raise their hand to a child. It was something she and Creven had never done and she didnt intend on doing it now. Following the girls eye to the building, she sighs slightly, catching snippets of the girls thoughts then scratching her head. How she wished people wouldnt think so loud. "You do, but I just cant place my finger on where I know you from, or where I think I know you from." she chuckles slightly.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker shakes her head at the woman's words. "No..he never hit me. He just ... he said children weren't meant to be loved. And he seemed to fear everybody." Hannah had never understood why her father had always seemed like he was walking on pins and needles. She never cared to ask, either. She shakes the thoughts of her father from her mind, turning her attention back to the woman. How could she find the child familiar? Hannah had seldom been allowed out of the house. Never mind without her father. Her eyes remain fixed on the wall in front of her as she speaks once more. "My name's Hannah."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon shakes her head at the girls words "No parent should ever say that to a child." she murmurs "Such a vile, disgusting man." she stops herself, realising she was saying bad things about  this girls father, if he could be called a father. Turning to face the girl, Jem sighs, cupping the girls face in her hands "Never ever think that what he told you was right." she whispers "Children are meant to be loud, loved and dirty." she adds, then drops her hands from the girls face with a small smile "Hi Hannah. My names Jem." she introduces herself.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker smiles softly at Jem. "It's nice to meet you, Jem." The child didn't know what to believe now. Her father, though he seldom showed her genuine love, had always kept her safe from the outside world. This woman was a stranger to her, and yet, Hannah couldn't help but want to believe her. As the woman cups her face in her hands, Hannah gasps. Her touch seemed so comforting to the child. "Maybe you saw my father and I on one of our errands?" It was the only thing the child could think of as to how the woman may have recognized her.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon chews the inside of her lip "Its nice to meet you too." she replies, half listening, trying not to tune into to the girls thoughts, which was hard right now as she seemed to be almost screaming something about her father. Jem shuddered slightly, shaking her head as she tried to ignore it. Returning her attention to the girl "I doubt it. I havent seen your father before.  At least, I dont think I have." she crinkles her forehead into a frown "If I had have seen him about with you and I had heard him say the things you said he did, I would have made myself known. Thats for sure." she shuffles slightly on the floor.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker tilts her head slightly at Jem. Nothing was making sense anymore. She begins humming her song, hoping it would spark a new conversation. Having only just run away, Hannah wasn't really in the mood to continue discussing her father. Maybe this woman knew something...maybe she could help Hannah understand. She looks into the woman's eyes, her blue-gray eyes seeming to sparkle from  happiness, though they were truly glazing over from tears that threatened to escape from beneath her eyelids. She was confused, and it brought frustration. Maybe the song would ease that, too Maybe, just maybe, this woman could help her. She stops humming before speaking. "You would? Really?" Nobody had ever spoken a word against her father before. Most people admired him for  raising his daughter after his wife ran off. Or at least, that's what he had always told strangers. She begins humming again. The song always seemed to distract her from her father. After discovering the truth, she often tuned him out by humming it.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon closes her eyes for a moment, humming the same song as Hannah. She still didnt know how the girl knew the song, or even if it was just a tune she had made up or heard somewhere. Jem did know that she did really want to meet Hannahs father... if only to teach him a lesson on parenting. Jem chuckled at that thought, before peeking over to Hannah "So why are you out here all alone?" she asked, thinking that there must be a reason, and judging by the way Hannah spoke of her father, he must have had something to do with it. But Jem wasnt going to pry, just asking the right few questions would get the right few answers then she could turn the topic of the conversation onto this tune. It was frustrating her a little now. Turning to Hannah with a smile, she nodded "Sure I would." she assumed other parents would have stepped in too.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker gasps softly as she hears Jem humming the same tune. How did she know it? Surely it was just from hearing her hum it. Hannah smiles softly. It was true. Most kids her age wouldn't be out gasps softly as she hears Jem humming the same tune. How did she know it? Surely it was just from hearing her hum it. Hannah smiles softly. It was true. Most kids her age wouldn't be out wandering alone. She takes a deep breath before she attempts to speak. Where would she even begin? "Well, I'm searching for my mother." Hannah decided it was best not to get into too much detail yet. Jem was still a stranger to her. Since her discovery, Hannah was determined to locate her mother; to find out what truly happened. She bites her lip slightly, hoping Jem would approve of her answer.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon giggles slightly, nodding her head, not rightly approving of the girl being out alone but it wasnt her place to say. She was sure she had her reasons, and she was right. "Searching for your mother?" she repeats, questioningly. What kind of father would let a girl search for her mother on her own. If he knew she was searching. A quick glance at Hannah made Jem think her father didnt have a clue and probably didnt care either. Jem lets out a sigh, rolling her eyes slightly "Tell me what you know about your mother. What you remember I mean, not what your father has told you." she swats a fly away with her hand.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker frowns at Jem's words, her tears finally escaping from beneath her eyelids. She hides her face in her hands before moaning softly. "I..I never met my mother." Everything Hannah knew about  her mother, she knew from what her father told her. Her shoulders tremble slightly. It would be difficult for her to find her mother, especially she had no real knowledge as to what she was like, nevermind what she looked like. "I was raised by only my father."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon jumps slighty at Hannahs reaction, although she wasnt sure why. Jem wrapped her arms round the girl and pulled her in for a hug as the girl let her tears flow "Im sorry, Hannah. I didnt mean to make you upset." Jem whispered. She knew what it felt like to be in her situation, kind of. After her son was taken from her by unknown forces the second she had him, Jem could feel the girls pain. Jem kept her arms round the girl, vowing silently to help her find her mother.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker curls into Jem's arms, her body trembling. "You didn't...it's just...my father told me she didn't love me. She left me alone with him soon after I was born." It was difficult for Hannah. Not knowing who her mother was made everything more difficult, especially being raised by her father. She ached for love, which was something she'd never received. "I'll never find her. I don't even know what she looks like."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon nods a few times "I understand why you think that. But we will find her. I have a few people I know who can help. If you would like them to." she starts, chewing her lip, wondering if Lucas and his team could pull in a few favours with their friends all over the country. She chuckles, lowly. Course they could. She was sure of that. It would mean that she owed them a huge favour, but she could manage that. "Im sure she looks like you."
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker shrugs slightly. "Maybe. I would love to find her someday. But..I don't know." She hums softly to herself as soon as she finishes speaking. The song comforted her every time, though she didn't know why. She wipes her eyes with the back of her hand and smiles. "I ran away, Jem...I ran away when I overheard the truth." Maybe the information would help. Hannah had said it without knowing why. She just felt it was important for Jem to know.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon raises her eyebrows and rubs Hannah’s back "Hey, hey, dont cry. I would have done the same in your situation." she whispers, looking up as she spots someone glancing their way "You will find her. I will make a few calls to a few friends of mine who track people down."
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker nods softly, her eyes drifting to where Jem's were. She wasn't sure who the person was, but she didn't care. She continues humming the song, the weight of the thoughts lifting off her mind and shoulders. "I know I'll find her someday. I'm just scared she won't want me...that's what my father used to say. He said she didn't want me...that's why she left. Until I heard him talking on the phone that one time...he said he took me from her."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon watches the person turn round and leave. Jem narrows her eyes a little before looking down at Hannah "You will. I know you will. Because I have the best trackers in the world on my side. The thing is, you cant know about them. Not even their name." she whispers in a low hush before nodding, the frown returning "He took you from her!" she half screams.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker winces at Jem's scream and nods softly. "That's what he told the man on the phone. And he knew I heard him, because after that, well..." She cuts herself off, not daring to say another word. "I want to know who my mother is, Jem..I want to meet her. To feel the bond between her and I that I have only ever read about in books. I want to feel a mother's love." She was getting herself all worked up again. She bites her lip before humming the song softly once more and relaxing.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon half smiles as way of an apology before she pulls her phone out of herpocket "I will get the ball rolling. It could only be a matter of weeks, but it may be longer." she explains, as she scrolls through her phonebook and hits the call button when she reaches Lucas's number. She didnt want to get Hannahs hopes up but there was no other person she would turn to when she needed someone to find.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker smiles and nods at Jem. She was glad Jem had approached her, though she still didn't know why. What had drawn Jem to her? She twirls a strand of her blonde hair around her finger, waiting anxiously for Jem to get off the phone so she could ask. Surely something about Hannah and brought Jem to her, and she wanted to know what. Nobody else had ever approached her, nevermind talk to her.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon laughs down the phone, then giggles slightly "Seriously, lucas. I need you to do me a favour. You see the girl Im with?" she questions as she hears a few taps of a keyboard followed by a "Yes" indicating he had hacked into the CCTV on the corner of the street. "I want you to do a family search on her. The girl is looking for her mother. I dont know how you do it, and I dont want to know either." she explains, shaking her head "Please do me this favour and I will repay you as I usually do. Free of charge this time." she offers, to which Lucas replies with another simple "Yes" and hangs the phone up. Jem slips the phone into her pocket and looks back at Hannah with a smile.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker smiles at Jem as she ends the phone call, her mind racing. She was a curious child, and naturally she had many questions. "Jem, what drew you to me? Nobody has ever bothered to approach me. It's like...I'm invisible to so many others." Hannah wanted to ask about this mysterious man, Lucas, but decided to hold off for the time being. She didn't want to pry too much. If he was trusted by Jem, she'd trust him too.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon takes a deep breath. How does she tell the girl that the song she was humming, the song that drew Jem to the girl, was the only memory she had of herself being human. She didnt want to frighten the girl away, but telling her she wasnt human, was opening a huge bag or worms, and she wasnt sure Hannah could handle that on top of everything else. "Erm.. Its a tune I remember from my childhood. Thats all." she murmured.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker tilts her head. "You mean the one I was humming?" How could Hannah ever explain that she had no idea where she knew the song from? When she was four, it seemed to appear out of nowhere, and she had hummed it ever since when she needed comfort. Hannah couldn't help but be even more curious now. Here she was, sitting beside a woman she'd never met before, and yet, she knew a song from the woman's childhood. None of it made sense to Hannah.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon nods her head slowly, confusion and frustration in her face "That same tune, Hannah." she tilted her head, trying to piece things together and getting nowhere. Her phone rings and she jumps out of her skin, almost dropping it as she looks at the screen. Unknown number. Lucas. "Hello? No... That cant be. Surely that would be remembered." she starts, almost yelling down the phone "I wouldnt make this .." "Whatever, Lucas" she growls and slams he phone down. Pinching the bridge of her nose in-between her fingers and her thumb, she exhales slowly.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker tilts her head, looking up at Jem. "What was that all about, Jem? Surely he hasn't found her within minutes?" The child's voice had a sense of hope to it. Maybe he had. And yet, Jem seemed bothered. "Is something wrong?" A sense of fear rushed through Hannah. Maybe he'd found out her mother truly had walked out on her. Maybe she wasn't even alive anymore.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon rests her head in her hands. Lucas had found the girls mother but the situation was...difficult. Hannahs mother had given birth to Hannah when she was a human. Then she had been changed into a vampire and most of her memories had been erased, apart from the tune she had been humming when she had seen Hannah. Jem shook her head slightly "Lucas found your mother, Hannah. Shes alive, just a bit different." was all she said.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker tilts her head slightly at Jem, her eyes widening. "He found her? Already? Where is she? When can I see her?" The child's voice was full of excitement. Maybe for once, she'd feel the love she'd always dreamed of. Maybe things would get better. But then she picks up on something. Jem had said she was different. Different how? What had happened?
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon glances over at Hannah. How was she supposed to explain this when she didnt have any idea what was happening, or anything to back it up. Would the girl think she was lying? Or worse, would she think she was trying to take her away from her father, as cruel as he was. Jem let out a sigh, heavily. All she could do was tell Hannah what Lucas had told her. She didnt know anything else, but she knew Lucas wouldnt have said what he did if he didnt have the proof to back it up. She would find out the rest of the details when she had her meeting with him in a few days’ time. Chewing her bottom lip so hard she could have drawn blood, Jem moves her gaze from the girl to the floor, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she whispers, nervously "Apparently you are looking at her right now." she starts, then shakes her head "I dont understand..."
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker gasps softly, her eyes widening. "I..." Hannah couldn't speak. What did Jem mean? She was looking at her? Was Jem truly her mother then? "How?" Anger began rushing through her. How could Jem have let her father run off with her? Why hadn't anyone stopped him? How had so much time passed without her knowing Hannah even existed? She squeezes her eyes shut and takes a deep breath. "I don't understand..."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon moves slightly away from Hannah, sensing the anger flying from her. She herself was confused. How could she not remember having a child? Was it because she was human when it happened? What else did she not remember? Who else had she forgottem from her old life? "I dont... I wasnt like this back then. I was human." she half whispers to herself "I dont remember anything, Im sorry. I just dont know what else to say." apologies were nothing she knew, but it was a start. She knew Hannah was upset, angry, confused. The feelings were radiating from the girl. Jem wraps her arms round herself, trying to close herself off from the mixed emotions of herself and from Hannah.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker sighs softly and hugs Jem. "Don't say anything. You don't have to." She smiles and kisses the woman's cheek, her anger fading. She could never truly be angry with her, especially now. "I don't know how this happened, but...I know I can't stay upset with you. It isn't your fault that he took me from you. And it's not your fault you don't remember me. At least, I don't think it is."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon shakes her head, hugging the girl back in return, confused. The man calling himself Hannahs father had brought her up, saying these lies and yet Hannah wasnt mad with her. "I dont think it was my fault. I was human back then." she sighs, running a hand through her hair, shaking slightly "I dont remember anything. Nothing, other than that tune. Its the only thing I remember from back then. I think my parents must have sung it to me."
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker smiles softly. Something about Jem's embrace made her feel whole and complete. "Were...human? What about now?" Hannah didn't fully understand, but it didn't matter. Having her mother beside her made her feel better. "Did you ever sing it to me? Before he took me I mean..." Hannah couldn't help but wonder many things now.
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon sighs slightly "Its hard to explain. Im a vampire now." she starts "But dont worry. Im not going to hurt you." she shuts up a moment to let it sink in a few moment. She was nervous about the reaction she would get from Hannah.
<RAV> Firstyeargirl HannahParker giggles softly. "I know you won't hurt me. You're my mother...why would you hurt me." At the mention of being a vampire, Hannah smiles brightly. "Can I be one too? I'd rather be like you than him..."
<SLY> Vampire Queen JemCalanon sighs slightly giving a small shrug. This was going to take some getting used to on her part. It seemed Hannah liked the idea, but it was going to take more than that when she told the rest of the family, Creven especially. "I wouldnt hurt you." she says slowly "And being like me would hurt you."
